Founder And Director – Lulu Thamani
Joan is a 2018 graduate of Amani Institute where she pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Social Innovation Management. She also attended the University of Nairobi and attained a Bachelor degree in Commerce (Marketing). She has practiced her marketing and sales profession in various companies including GlaxoSmithKline and PZ Cussons.
As a graduate of the 2015 Akili Dada fellowship program, which contributed to the formation of Lulu Thamani, Joan has actively continued to impact underprivileged women from rural communities in Kenya through business and entrepreneurship development programs. Working alongside her husband Daniel, she is able to drive this through partnerships with Rural Churches, Lulu Thamani’s Community Outreach Program.
Joan involved in leadership forums like the WOSWA (Women Students Welfare Association), Akili Dada Network, Amani Institute, SESOK and NYWL (Network of Young Women Leaders International). In addition to this she has been featured in various platforms such as Nation Newspaper, Ebru TV, Y254 tv among others sharing her expertise on women and girls’ development. She is also a Young African Leadership Initiative Alumni, Enterprise For Peace Scholar 2019 and a One Young World Ambassador.
